(obituary 7/4/56 in City archive, portrait in Victoria Art Gallery) was made Dundee’s third lady Burgess in 1902 in recognition of her enlightened interest in the welfare of the people of Dundee and her husband’s generosity in funding Auchterhouse Sanatorium (Sidlaw Hospital).
She was noted for her kindness and her Gainsborough-style hats.
