| Frances Wright | | Footstep 4 | |
| 1795 - 1852
Daughter of an ardent Republican, Fanny was born at 136 Nethergate and grew
up an outspoken free-thinker. She went to the USA where she became famous as a
writer and lecturer who controversially scorned religion and campaigned for
women's rights, free love and the emancipation of slaves - well ahead of her
time.
